Maddy lost all the goats. “Just tie them up.” Billy said as he ran to catch a boda into Yei, “I will be back for dinner.” So Maddy went and “tied” them….to clumps of grass… which goats love to eat. Not shockingly when we went to check on them, they were long gone. Away to eat the bountiful supply of elephant grass (as tall as me) that was in all directions. Emma, Susan and I set off in hot pursuit. Tiny foot paths, tall grass, squinting in all directions for any sign of goat movement. We took a right. Nothing. We detoured left, but quickly backtracked when we ran into naked men bathing. Not what we were looking for. We reversed direction back the way we came and voila! Four happy escapees munching away. Begin – the chase. Darting, diving, grasping for fleeing goat ropes in all directions. Finally, victory was ours. All goats were safely tied (to trees) before Billy got home. He will never know.
